Chocolate Pound Cake

My Grandma’s Recipe

 

Cream ½ pound butter or margarine, ½ cup shortening with 3 cups sugar.  Beat in 5 eggs one at a time.

Sift:

q       3 cups cake flour

q       ½ teaspoon baking powder

q       4 tablespoons cocoa

q       ½ teaspoon salt

and add alternately with 1 cup milk to first mixture, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla.

 

Bake in a greased and lightly floured 9 or 10 inch tube pan at 325 degrees for 80 or 90 minutes.  Cool and remove from pan.  Lightly sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar if desired.
